Hi! I’m Stephanie. Born and raised in Brooklyn, I now live with my husband and 3 kids in the suburbs of New Jersey in a home with a wrap around porch. It’s my favorite place to write. My memoir-in-progress chronicles the journey that took me and my husband from NYC to the other side of the world to meet a 2 year old boy in Kazakhstan. In it, I explore the challenges and ultimate triumph of adopting our son and raising a blended family. Adopting and falling in love with our son was the hardest and most joyful experience of our lives.
You can often find me sitting on our porch swing with my family, browsing our local bookshop or gathering with friends and fellow writers in my favorite local coffee shop surrounded by too many pens, an array of notebooks, and a very messy, but functional, planner.
In 2018, when I needed more accountability in my own life, I founded a local chapter of Shut Up & Write. Our Westfield chapter is a vibrant writing community that serves as a home for writers from Union, Middlesex, Somerset, and Essex Counties. (And further, if you are willing to take the drive!) You can find us both on Instagram and Facebook @ Shut Up and Write Westfield.
My work has appeared in HuffPost, Parents Magazine, Parents Expecting, Fit Pregnancy, and Connect Magazine. Featured on one of the first seasons of TLC’s A Baby Story and A Baby Story: Where Are They Now?, I have also been a guest on podcasts and television programs, discussing topics such as international adoption, family, relationships, health and wellness.
