At this point, we are set to arrive in Almaty on March 13, should nothing change. Though we want to take custody of Major Cutie right away as he is ours forevermore, I was hoping for a slow lead up to that, perhaps 1 or 2 days of visits just like we did back when we first met him and then on one of our visits, we say our good byes, take another final stroll around the Baby House property and leave those gates for the last time or at least for many many years. I was told it was possible to make this happen in such a way but I’m thinking it might be just another of those “yes, yes of course” situations that never materialize. Perhaps I will see that he remembers us, that he is not as reluctant to join us as I had feared and that it won’t even be necessary to do that. Perhaps I will be eager to take him out of his baby house right away to start our life as a family and start bonding immediately without any watchful eyes. It’s just that I never thought we’d have been separated for so long. I remember he cried for 40 minutes the first day he saw us when he was encouraged to play with us, and each day for 4 days he cried a bit. I just want the transition to go as smoothly as possible for him. I wanted our first day together to have as little stress as possible for him. It will have been 74 days that he has not seen us. Can you imagine? 74! I never thought so much time would separate us. He likely forgot about us, at least for the time being, but it’s miraculous that I survived so many days waiting to love him up. But we are almost at the ending point in our adoption timeline. Finally, it will all come down to this — scooping Major up in my arms, kissing his soft chubby cheeks and whispering to him that he is going to be loved forever. Gotcha gotcha gotcha, my little boy, gotcha forever!
Don't worry. I am sure he will remember you. when i see it written like that- 74 days, no i cannot believe it's been that long… i know this will be difficult, but i also know it will be easier than you expect. no matter what, this little boy is going to be sooooo happy and the world following your journey will be happy beyond words. i am truly in awe of you all, and feel very blessed to call you family. 🙂

You think that he has forgotten you, but I do not think so at all. I believe that children understand much more than we think, and that Major knows that you are his mommy. I hope the times passes quickly for all of you!

I think it is good you are preparing yourself for the reality that Major may not be totally comfortable at first. I think you'll be surprised that even if he doesn't remember you instantly, it will come back quickly. I'm sure you'll do this already, but try to do some of the things that you guys did a lot of- if there was a song you sang, or a way you guys tickled him, a book you read. Something like that. Even if he doesn't appear to remember your face the second you see him, I suspect it will all piece together faster than you think for your Major Cutie.

Hey, you will get to spend Nauryz in Almaty – it is a wonderful time and very festive. And to get out and see the city – the blossoms should be out when you arrive. What a great time to go pick up your son – forever – you can take all those posterity photos with some colour in them.
