Still no news yet for our court date and time does seem to be passing slowly. The unfairness of the situation for Batyrhan only grows more and more in my heart with each passing day. But I have faith in the process and know that our court dates will eventually come and then shortly after, our final trip to Almaty, in which we bring home forever a little boy to complete our family.
Bolat, our dear translator, saw Batyrhan again today and took two photos. He appears older to me and his hair is getting longer. I was very very pleased and simultaneously heartbroken to hear that Batyrhan ran over to Bolat to hug him and would not let him go. Once again, as it was during our visits that Batyrhan only ever saw Bolat, I am hopeful that there will be memory for us and that perhaps deep within that hug that is hope for us to be there as well. I am also a little bit more sure, from those reactions to Bolat, that likely attachment to us will not be a cause of concern.
We talk about Little Brother every day, we sing good morning songs to him just as I am putting Emma and Eden to bed. He is thought about, imagined in future upcoming family events and loved very much from far away. Decluttering continues, the color blue for his room is ruminated on, a Yankees baseball cap, gotten as a gift already by one of our favorite hat wearing friends, is hanging on his door. Stuffed bears wait for him on his pillow. Mommy and Me class schedules are perused. Images of us playing together and running in the field of Marine Park cloud my mind often. The girls can’t wait for his arrival home — they are proud big sisters already.
What I also am pleased to notice is as much as they bicker over nonsense at times, Emma and Eden appear to be more “in love” with each other than they were before we left for Kazakhstan. We walk back home after picking up Emma from school and Emma will just stop in the street to hug and kiss Eden and tell her “You are so adorable, do you know that?” At night, I notice they are playing more together in imaginative or artistic games that involve both their input. Their friendship and strong sister bond is growing. This is what I always wished for and the fact that they remain best friends as we bring in a little brother is more than I had dreamed.
that is one sweet lookin' boy alright!
looking back i can't imagine the separation. when will you travel again?

Just checking in on you all – this is always that worst period, the waiting. Hope that your court day is "bestowed upon you" soon (with just enough notice to reach the court house from the airport).
We saw your question on the Morrison's blog about the Green Bazaar. The "meat section" is in the main, permanent covered structure. We have some pictures of it on two of our posts, if you are interested: http://yeomans2kaz.blogspot.com/2008/03/our-womens-day-weekend-in-pictures.html and http://yeomans2kaz.blogspot.com/2008/02/sunday-out-on-town-horsing-around.html. You will find that most of the cuts had been walking around earlier that day. 🙂 And the dried fruit vendors (most are Uzebek) are fabulous – they can converse in 10-15 languages and will try to guess where you are from (try some Icelandic, just to keep them off-balance).
Our fingers are crossed that you return to Kazakhstan soon. Although Almaty in Spring – starting in March – really is absolutely beautiful.

Hi Steph, I am so happy to read the updates from home and Bathyran will be so well welcome in a very loving family. Room ready, sisters ready, everybody is ready, so I hope court date will be soon. I also feel the waiting is unfair, but unfortunately is part of the process. I can`t wait to hear updates from when he will be home:). We definetely need to catch up. Since I read about your June`s plan, I am trying more to convince Calin to join you in Wisconsin to meet with the other Kaz families :). I left you a message did you get it (last week).
